Levels is a contemporary chamber quintet based in Appleton, WI. Having begun as a primarily improvising group our first release, Distractions, reflects that. Our sophomore release, Still, was a project focused on commissioning new works from composers within the Lawrence University Community. We challenged the composers to incorporate strong elements of improvisation as they wrote for our unique instrumentation, which yielded some interesting results. To round out the album we also included a couple improvisations of our own. Both albums stream for free on Bandcamp and can be purchased for $5.
